This antique French Louis Philippe mirror dates from the 19th century and showcases a black and gold frame with raised gilt detailing, a delicate beaded inner trim, and the softly curved top typical of the Louis Philippe style. 
What makes this mirror more special than an ordinary mirror is the old wavy mirror glass and the back. The glass gives the reflection depth and character and shows natural foxing, light surface marks, and age-related speckling.
Another interesting detail is the back, which is covered with antique blue floral backing paper marked Zuber & Cie, the historic French wallpaper maker from Rixheim in Alsace, France.

Condition: Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. Beautiful patina. The frame shows age-related wear, small losses, rubbing, and patina, and was refinished from completely gilt to black while retaining its gilded rim during the 1920s-1930s, when the Art Deco era favored strong contrasts and clean lines. The old wavy mirror glass shows natural foxing, light surface marks, and age-related speckling. The backing paper shows visible age wear, tears, and losses. Ready to hang.
