Art Deco “Nieuwe Kunst” Oak Chair Pander 1910s

Rare “Nieuwe Kunst” oak chair from Pander & zn. Original seat with green velor fabric, slightly worn. The chair has a branding on the bottom; Hollandia, H. Pander & Zn K5065. A face has been carved into the leg of the chair.

The innovations that occurred around 1900 in Dutch arts and crafts and architecture are now summarized under the term New Art. De Nieuwe Kunst is one of the many variants of the international Art Nouveau, a style movement that finally put an end to the nineteenth century, in which the imitation of historical styles was rampant.
