High quality Art Deco dining chairs from The Netherlands. Designed by Frits Spanjaard for 'The Haagse School' 1930s. The carved chairs with a high back have beautiful features and are upholstered with purple fabric.
The Haagse School is the name for a group of designers who mostly lived and worked in The Hague, the Netherlands and who mainly focused on interior and furniture design. They represent the business, functional direction in Art Deco. Their furniture and interiors were considered very modern by many in the 1920s and 1930s. The functionality of the furniture is considered more important by the designers of the Haagse School than the form. A shape that is characterized by simple, clean contours and linearity.
Design from the Amsterdam school was known as the more affordable form. The Haagse school was intended for the wealthy.

The purple fabric of the seat and back is from a later date. Sturdy chairs. A very small crack in 1 chair. A small sun fade is visible on the fabric at the top.
