Leon Krier
Born in Luxembourg, the architect and city planner Léon Krier is one of the most important exponents of the neo-rationalist and neoclassical architecture of the late 20th century. He studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart and worked with Josef Paul Kleihues and James Stirling. Krier propagated a move away from the principles of modernist architecture and modernist urbanism. He found his timeless models in the classical tradition. Krier made for example the master plan for Poundbury, a model village in Dorset, England, which is considered one of the best known examples of 'new urbanism'.
